The Dining Room af A. R. Gurney
Instrueret af Jeremy Thomas-Poulsen

Copenhagen Theatre Circle is proud to present a new interpretation of A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room – a classic from the American modern theatre.

Each of a total of 18 short, interrelated and intertwining scenes tells the story of a different family during different periods, and in the centre of their interactions is the same dining room, bringing them together. Expect the unexpected, with characters from different times appearing on stage simultaneously. Thus before Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia there was The Dining Room.

The original play was written about White Anglo-Saxon Protestant (WASP) families in the north-eastern United States. Our director, Jeremy Thomas-Poulsen, will bring the stories into the 21st century and relocate the play to Europe. Here we see the same longing for and fear of traditions dying out in favour of a faster, more power-hungry society, giving the plot a deliciously modern twist with live musical accompaniment.
